Children & Youth Services Internships
Centre County Children and Youth Services offers opportunities for college seniors to supplement their education and experience in the field of child welfare through internship positions. The primary focus of our internship program is to enhance the educational experience of the individual student intern by providing real-world, hands-on learning through direct social work with children and their families. Working as an intern at Centre County Children and Youth Services also allows the student to gain relevant work experience, enhance their résumé, and begin job seeking in the child welfare field. Typically, one student is selected for an intern position for the spring and fall semesters, but the agency can have up to two active interns per semester.
You can apply for an internship position by completing the following steps:
- Filling out a Centre County Government Employment Application (PDF)
- Sending a résumé, including a current phone number and email address, to:
Centre County Children and Youth Services
420 Holmes Street Willowbank Building Suite 201
Bellefonte, PA 16823
Interviews for the spring semester position are generally conducted in October and November. Interviews for the fall semester position are generally conducted in April and May. Applying for an internship position does not guarantee that you will be selected, only that you will be considered. It is recommended that you begin your application process as early as possible. The agency also participates in the Child Welfare Education for Baccalaureates (CWEB) internship program. Check with your university program staff for more information on CWEB. If you have any questions you can contact Centre County Children and Youth Services at (814) 355-6755.
