The Centre County Criminal Justice Planning Department was created in 1999 from the existing Intermediate Punishment Department. The creation of the Criminal Justice Planning Department reflected a new emphasis on system wide criminal justice activities within the county. Therefore, the Criminal Justice Planning Department maintains a close working relationship with the Board of Commissioners, Courts, Probation Department, District Attorney's Office, County Correctional Facility and other county offices with regard to criminal justice issues. The department serves as a liaison among county offices and other criminal justice agencies within the county, and is the primary point of contact with the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.
The Criminal Justice Planning Department provides oversight to the following initiatives:
Centre County Criminal Justice Advisory Board (CJAB)
Centre County Crisis Intervention Team (CIT)
Centre County Reentry Coalition
Centre County Heroin and Opioid, Prevention and Education (HOPE) Initiative & Advisory Board
Centre County Stepping Up Initiative.
