1. Do I have to give my name when reporting elder abuse?

The identity of reporters must be kept confidential. You will be asked for your name in the event additional information may be needed. You can make an anonymous report of abuse.

2. How do I report elder abuse?

You can call the Statewide Elder Abuse Hotline at 800-490-8505. You will be asked some questions about the identity of the alleged victim and the circumstances that led to your call.

3. When is Open Enrollment?

Open Enrollment for 2020 health plans starts November 1, 2019. Important dates to note: November 1, 2019: Open Enrollment starts — first day you can enroll, re-enroll, or change a 2020 insurance plan through the Health Insurance Marketplace. 10. How do I get in-home meals?

To receive In-Home Meals, call the Centre County Office of Aging. An “Intake Form” will be taken and a care manager will call to set up an appointment for a home visit. This is for meals outside the State College Area School District. To learn more about in-home meals click here.

12. I have questions about the rights of someone in a Long Term Care Facility or Nursing home.

Long term care facilities and nursing homes have regulations that safeguard the rights of individuals that reside there.

An Ombudsman is a trained individual who helps protect the rights of individuals living in both long term care facilities and nursing homes.

The Ombudsman provide information, answer questions, investigate complaints and offer assistance to resolve problems about the quality of care and treatment individuals receive while living there.

To contact the local Ombudsman please call The Office of Aging at 814-355-6716.

13. How do I attend a senior center?

Anyone age 60 and above is welcome to attend a senior center at any time, however, those who wish to eat a meal must register with their center at least two days in advance. A donation towards the cost of the meal is requested. Anyone is welcome to bring their own lunch while attending.

15. How do I find help getting my local/state/federal taxes filed?

You can call the RSVP office at (814) 355-6816 to schedule an appointment or for more information.

Also, If you need help completing your PA-1000 Rent/Property Rebate you can call (814) 355-6816 to schedule an appointment.

16. Is there a local IRS call-in site?

Yes, located in Bellefonte by appointment only. You can call 1-844-545-5640 to speak with an IRS Agent or to schedule an appointment.

17. Waiver, Act 150 : How do I contact my provider?

If you do not know who provides you in-home care, contact your service coordinator for information on who provides your care.

If you are unaware who your service coordinator is, you can contact the Pennsylvania Enrollment Broker to get that information at 1-877-550-4227. As of 2020, each participant who is receiving Long-term Services and Supports (LTSS) will have a Managed Care Organization (MCO) that they can also contact to get information on their providers.

18. Waiver, Act 150: How to I report a complaint?

If you have complaints about enrollment process, Office of Long-term Living (OLTL) programs or in 2020 your MCO, you can call the Enrollment Broker at 1-877-550-4227 to file a complaint.

OLTL also has a Quality Assurance Hotline you can call to file a complaint directly with the State at 1-800-757-5042.
